Ira H. Parker
Ira Parker is a seasoned executive with over 20 years of business and legal experience in high ranking government positions, a prestigious law firm and as corporate in-house counsel. Most recently he was Chief Legal Officer of Polaroid, joining after its exit from bankruptcy and structuring its successful reemergence as a public company and recent sale. Before joining Polaroid, Ira was Chief Executive Officer of Genuity where he guided the sale of the company to Level 3 Communications. Before becoming CEO, he was the executive vice president and general counsel of Genuity, where he designed and oversaw its spin out from GTE, raising a record setting $1.9 billion in a technology company IPO. At GTE, Ira was Deputy General Counsel of the parent company and in charge of all of its legal affairs for its data businesses and research and development efforts. Before GTE, he was a partner in the Washington, DC office of Alston & Bird, where he focused on new technology initiatives for brick and mortar banks and other companies. Ira spent nine years at the FDIC, where he last headed up litigation at the Resolution Trust Corporation as a deputy general counsel. He has testified before United States Congress on new technology related legislation, acted as editor-on-chief of the Electronic Banking Law and Commerce Report and has been a keynote speaker on technology related issues at numerous conferences. Ira is a graduate of the Emory University School of Law.
