Michael P. Filosa
Michael P. Filosa, Ph.D. is a Senior Manager of Science and Technology at ZINK Imaging, where he is the leader of the Chemical Synthesis Group that is responsible for molecular discovery, chemical scale-up and analytical chemistry. He is a co-inventor of the ZINK amorphochromic yellow, magenta and cyan color-forming materials. He has also contributed a number of other key imaging materials to ZINK media.
Prior to joining ZINK Imaging, Dr. Filosa worked for 26 years at the Polaroid Corporation where research groups under his direction invented non-staining hydroquinone developers, sensitizing dyes, inhibitor-releasing developers, alkali-bleachable filter dyes and novel reagent additives which were incorporated into instant silver halide film products. He has published 13 scientific articles and book chapters, and has 10 issued patents.
He is currently the editor of the newsletter of the Northeastern Section of the American Chemical Society, The Nucleus, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Northeastern Section.
Dr. Filosa received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1974, and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Organic Chemistry from Harvard University in 1979. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Lambda Upsilon honorary societies and the American Chemical Society.
