Dr. Stephen R. Herchen
Steve is Chief Technology Officer of ZINK Imaging. Steve is capitalizing on nearly 30 years of corporate research & development experience to ensure ZINK development milestones are achieved and help cultivate new and manage existing partner relationships.

As Vice President of Research and Development and Chief Technology Officer for Polaroid Corporation Steve led the R&D efforts that included the invention and development of ZINK imaging technology. Prior to this appointment Steve held various positions within Polaroid ranging from leading a molecular design and synthesis group to managing complex international multi-company imaging system product development and manufacturing programs. He has fifteen years experience initiating and managing collaborations with companies in the Far East.

Steve is an imaging technology expert with in-depth knowledge of competitive technologies. He made numerous contributions to Polaroid's silver halide instant photography products over the years as well as to a wide range of Polaroid proprietary digital imaging technologies. Steve earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Merrimack College graduating Magna Cum Laude and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has presented a number of invited technical lectures, is an author on eight publications, is co-inventor on three patents, and is a reviewer for the Journal of Organic Chemistry.
