Application Scientist/Engineer
ZINK Imaging, Inc. was founded in October 2005 to commercialize a new digital printing technology. ZINK conducts basic research in digital imaging and manufactures coated media, with operations in Massachusetts and North Carolina. ZINK is working with established brands and hardware manufacturers to bring a range of innovative products to market.

ZINK needs an Application Scientist/Engineer with experience in evaluation/quality control and the ability to apply established mathematical and scientific techniques to the characterization of digital print media. This position offers an opportunity for direct support of the development and manufacture of novel thermal printing papers. We’ll need someone with enthusiasm and the energy to keep up with our fast paced, “start-up” environment.

Responsibilities:

• Characterization of physical and photographic properties of experimental coated structures.
• Articulation and presentation of test results in a group setting or 1:1.
• Data compilation, analysis, display in charts and graphs, archiving.
• Experimental design and statistical analysis (e.g., Minitab, 6 Sigma tools).
• Dissemination of technical information to co-workers and /or customers at various points in the product development cycle.
• 5% travel required.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to work within a team environment and independently.
• Flexibility and creativity.
• Hands-on attitude.
• Ideally, experience with digital printing and/or color analysis.
• Knowledge of six-sigma tools and processes a plus.

Education/Experience:

• BS/BA or other relevant degree, MS or PHD preferred
• 4-6 years of related experience
