Congratulations to 35% of you who got the second poll question right! There are approximately 100,000,000,000 crystals in a single 2" x 3" ZINK™ print. What is even more amazing, is that in one single pixel there are over 20 million crystals. All of these dye crystals together form a high quality ZINK photo!

The crystals are called Amophochromic™ crystals and were invented by chemists at ZINK Imaging. The crystals come in three colors; yellow, magenta and cyan and they all have the amazing property of being clear or colorless at room temperature. For those of you who didn't know, print heads in ZINK™-enabled products are what create the heat pulses.

ZINK print heads have over 300 heating elements per inch. And even more amazing is when printing an image, each heating element emits heat pulses for a precise time and temperature in order to activate the Amophochromic crystals in ZINK Paper™.

In one 2" X 3" print, over 200,000,000 heat pulses are generated, all within 30 seconds.
