Siegfried Holzbauer

Media artist, born July 7,1955 at Bad Ischl / Austria, lives at St.Gotthard i.M. / Austria, and is married with 2 daughters.  After graduation from high school with a fine artists class, educationalist, studied psychology and pedagogics, holds a Ph.D., now working as psychologist and media artist including litterary projects. 1990 established edition S.p.N.LAUB, a publishing house for contemporary visual poetry and art.  Siegfried´s work is published in numerous books and exhibitions e.g. in Austria, Germany, Italy, France, Great Britain and Japan.  Serverin Constantin calls "Siegfried Holzbauer, a musician of colors in the post-literary age".

Starting point of all Siegfried's works is a word or a story, which he transforms into different medias, into texts, graphics, pictures, web art, installations and environments often including sounds and music.  With "the Squaring of Words", he developed a way to transform letters and words into geometric patterns of colors.  Recent projects include the DIARIUM-Project (a diary running since 1996, basically literary but expanded with visuals), the ZHINU-Project (a China based sociocritical starlore lovestory including a labyrinth installation) and IGNEUS - his Z-Art project, an archaic play with fire where Siegfried swings between drawings/fine art and photography.  His website advancedpoetx.com is an integral part of his work and the door to his artistic universe.

Siegfried is one of the original ZINK™ art pioneers.  Introduced to ZINK Paper™ through a project with the polanoid.net organization, Siegfried has been one of the most prolific and supportive artists in our program.  He made the first presentation of ZINK Art in an art exhibition worldwide when he presented six of his best works on ZINK Paper in the KGS - Kuenstlergilde Salzkammergut 80th anniversary member's art exhibtion "WE" during the Upper Austrian Provincial Exhibition 2008 at the Kammerhof Gallery of the City of Gmunden in Gmunden / Austria.

A replica of one of Siegfried's pieces was included in the first set of Z-Art packages sent out to prospective artists.  His ZINK Art is also featured the Vision Room in the ZINK Imaging home office. He has also helped spread the word about ZINK Paper to the artist community and beyond through his participation in expositions such as Geometrie + Konzept, Oct.17 - Nov.16, 2008, Kammerhofgalerie, Kammerhofgasse 8, 4810 Gmunden / Austria and Kunst.Messe.Linz (Art.Fair.Linz), Nov.22-23, 2008, Landesgalerie Linz, Museumstr.14, 4010 Linz / Austria.
